BerlinKnits 2017

Hi, my dear readers ♥

One of the (many) highlights of 2017 was definitelly visiting my very first big knitting and yarn-related event - BerlinKnits ♥
I always wanted to go there ! Yarn and knitters everywhere ! And so close ! In Berlin ! I couldn't wait for Yarn Over Berlin to announce the date and when they did we booked Airbnb right away :D

The festival started on 30th September which was also the first day of Westknits mystery KnitAlong, which means that I was casting on new project on highway :D #justknittingthings

We arrived on Friday, too late and too tired for any sightseeing. So we just picked the closest restaurant and went inside to get dinner, only to find out that it's full of knitters :D There was a pre-party happening and I would never even imagine to be in a restaurant, feasting on delicious dinner while being surrounded by knitters without any further planning ! I haven't talked to anyone, but I just loved the atmosphere ♪

On Saturday morning I dressed up in my Linho pullover and knitting skirt which I got from Han. Hogwarts Knitting Club bag full with tote bags, knitting and wallet full of money :D ready to buy EVERYTHING
(I was saving money for this occasion the whole summer and my friends also gave me an envelope with "BerlinKnits financial support" for birthday ♥)

OH MY IT WAS AMAZING !!! YARN EVERYWHERE ! ALL THESE COLOURS ! EVERYONE IS KNITTING AND WEARING KNITS ♥

At first I was walking around alone, waiting for other Czech knitters to arrive. In the meantime I already managed to buy quite a lot of skeins ...

... and when the whole "Hogwarts Knitting Club group" arrived we were shopping more and more and more ... :D
At the end of the day we had bags full with yarn in our favourite colours, super-motivated and impatient to sit somewhere and start knitting !

With Honza's help I organized sort of Czech afterparty, which happend at Neumond restaurant again (they were already used to knitters and they seemed to like us). We talked a lot, knitted a few rows, had some delicious food and in the evening went home super-tired, but also happy :)

On Sunday we jumped in the car and travelled to Prague to family birthday celebrations and on Monday finally back to Munich. I didn't mind the travelling at all ! At least I managed to knit quite a lot of rows of the first Westknits KAL clue ♪

For more pictures check out blog post of Vlněné Sestry - Czech yarn shop of two super-kind ladies which I finally had a chance to meet in real life :) Hope we will see each other again soon !

And, of course I must not forget to show you my loot !
Look at all these babies I bought ♥ ♥ ♥

I haven't done any nice photos of the whole bunch (except for this one which is not really good), but hopefuly you'll see them in finished projects soon !

Have a beautiful day, everyone ♥

Este

Hi, my dear readers ♥

I think it happened to all knitters - you were working on some project for the current season, but just as you were finished with it, the season ended and the weather changed to something completely unfriendly with your brand new knit.
It happens to me a lot.

This summer I fell in love too late with "Este" pattern from Justyna Lorkowska and started working on it as soon as I had a time. I used yarn from my stash - the beautiful and soft Marina from Manos del Uruguay which I bought in spring. This pattern is supposed to be done in fingering weight yarn, but I wanted it to be a bit more fitting, so I risked lace weight. I don't know what kind of sorcery it was, but without doing any adjustments it fits PERFECTLY !

So I had this lovely, light, summer knitted top and guess what... autumn arrived :D Last year September stayed pretty warm until the end, so I was hoping for at least one summer-like day, but NOPE.

For now I'm wearing it over tank top and waiting patiently for spring.

Oh, and there's one more thing about this project !
When it was finished and proudly blocking at mats in our living room, I forgot that our robotic vacuum cleaner is set on Sunday 13:00 and foolishly left home on this precise time. Coming back to expression of true horror on Honza's face when he found out what happened. He didn't want to let me see what happened - so scared he was of my reaction ha ha :D But honestly, my hearth stopped when I saw my beloved finished project stucked and chewed in our Roomba D: Luckily, this yarn is really tough and aside from some minor knots nothing happened and the whole knit survived !!! PHEW

Here are some photos I took at home - outdoor knit photoshooting has to wait until spring ♪

I hope you're all doing fine !
Have a beautiful day ♥

MPS Maxlrain 2017

Hi, my dear readers ♥

After visiting a few medieval festivals and markets around Bayern, some people suggested to me that I should definitelly visit one of the Mittelalterlich Phantasie Spectaculum Festivals (shortly MPS), because it's huge, great and there are some pretty good bands playing.
I was wondering why I never heard of such a thing, so I looked it up a bit. And the reason why I didn't know about its existence was that most of the MPSs are taking place in north or west Germany, but there's only ONE in Bayern ! So I saved the date immediately, bought tickets and waited patiently to September ♪

My friends weren't lying - it is huge ! There are tons of shops, three stages, knight's tournament, fire show, costumes, food ... ! It's also a part medieval and part fantasy festival, so it's totally fine to wear some over-the-top fantasy headpiece with horns and hoofs and everything !
I was quite amazed by the largeness of it, but at the same time I was a bit dissapointed about the overall atmosphere at day. What was disturbing the fantasy/medieval wibe the most were omnipresent banners for next shows and MPSs, which were hung on normal musical-festival-like metal constructions. They weren't even trying to cover it up... which in comparison to Kaltenberg where every piece of reality and modern life HAS TO be covered otherwise someone has a problem... was quite, yeah ...dissapointing. But as soon as the night fell, everything dissapeared in the darkness and fire with lanterns changed the atmosphere to something I love the most about medieval fairs :) And with the combination of finally seeing live my beloved FAUN, I quickly forgot about metal constructions and enjoyed the evening to the fullest !

One more thing which I didn't like about MPS was that they have their own stands with beverages, which are supplied from local brewery, depending on where they currently are and - as for the mead - from the supplier who also has shops at the festival... which wouldn't be that bad, if the mead was actually good. But it isn't. It's too sweet and terribly weak ! Nah, I had like three bottles and I was still sober, but overdosed with sugar already ...the only thing that helped was sitting on the sun, which was shinning incredibly on that day ! I still can't believe our luck, that at the end of September we were able to sit on the grass, because it was dry and the weather was so warm !

 ♥♥♥ FAUN ♥♥♥

As for my outfit - I didn't know what to expect, how many people are going to be overdressed or not, so I went for something comfortable, but still too fantasy for a regular medieval fair, but fantasy enough for fantasy fair..... does it make sense ? :D

I must say that I feel totally cute in my mage hobbit self ♥
Rozíta Pampelišková strikes again !

And of course we couldn't leave with bare hands, so here's THE LOOT !

Ceramics from my favourite pottery, incense sticks from amazing Nebenwelt which had a lot of dried animal parts for sale at their stand and I wanted to buy everything but Honza stopped me (but that badger foot *o*) and pentacle decoration for my altar ♥

Also Honza bought himself a kilt ! FINALLY

Even though there were some things I didn't like about MPS, I still liked it A LOT. So we will be back for sure ♥

I hope you're all doing fine !
Have a beautiful day, everyone ♥

Braddock "Hufflepuff" Hat

Hi, my dear readers ♥

Autumn is the perfect knitting season - and you know how much I love autumn AND knitting, so it could be also the best season for everything, but it isn't. Because winter is just around the corner, dark days, no leaves on trees, cold, rain, ugghh ...I hate winter so much that it almost spoils the autumn for me !

Lucky for us winter-haters (I'm not alone in this, right?) there are always things we can do to make this season a bit nicer - for example knit new hat(s) ! :D

My first hat of this year is a beautiful mustard yellow "Braddock" hat, made from yarn which dear Striga brought to me from Paris ♥ It's an original yarn from local yarn store "Lil Weasel" and it has THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SHADE OF HUFFLEPUFF

The pattern from Christina Danaee is easy, quick and fun knit with an optional pompom ♪ (which I forgot how to make, so mine is a really tired pompom...)

Since the light is getting worse and worse I decided to try a new spot for photos in our living room, especially for knits - so we don't have to go outside :D It ended up looking really cozy, so I'm going to use it a few more times, I think ...

I hope you're all doing fine ♪
